Primrose Hill
A short but scenic gem, the walk up Primrose Hill offers panoramic views over Loch Katrine and the surrounding Trossachs hills—making it the perfect mini-adventure for walkers of all abilities. It’s a peaceful alternative to the busier nearby trails, yet still delivers classic Highland scenery in a compact package. The walk begins at the Trossachs Pier, where the famous Sir Walter Scott steamship departs. From here, a waymarked path winds gently uphill through mixed woodland, with occasional clearings offering early glimpses of the loch. In spring and early summer, wildflowers—especially the hill’s namesake primroses—dot the route with bursts of colour. After a steady but manageable climb, you'll reach the summit of Primrose Hill, a rocky knoll with wide, open views across Loch Katrine, Ben Venue, and the rolling ridges of the Trossachs. It’s a lovely spot for a peaceful break, birdwatching, or simply soaking up the landscape that inspired poets and painters alike.
