About
Few places in England are as steeped in legend and coastal drama as Tintagel, perched high on the rugged cliffs of Cornwall’s north coast. Famous for its association with King Arthur and medieval myth, the ruins of Tintagel Castle straddle the headland, connected by a spectacular footbridge, with sweeping views over the Atlantic Ocean.
Just to the north lies Barras Nose, a striking rocky headland and the first coastal property ever acquired by the National Trust. A short walk along the South West Coast Path leads to this dramatic promontory, where sheer cliffs plunge into the sea and seabirds wheel above the waves. From here, you can look back for one of the best views of Tintagel Castle, framed by turquoise coves and jagged cliffs.
The combination of Tintagel’s legendary ruins and the raw beauty of Barras Nose makes this a walk where history and landscape collide. It’s an easy route but packed with atmosphere, whether you’re exploring myths of Arthurian knights or simply enjoying the elemental power of Cornwall’s coastline.
