About

The Cairnwell Munros offer one of the most accessible Munro-bagging outings in Scotland. Starting from the high road at the Glenshee Ski Centre, walkers can climb three separate Munros in a single rewarding circuit: Càrn Aosda (917 m), Càrn a’ Ghèoidh (975 m), and The Cairnwell (933 m). The route begins with a short, steep climb up Càrn Aosda, one of the easiest Munros thanks to the high start. From here, a broad ridge leads across heather and rocky ground to Càrn a’ Ghèoidh, the most remote and scenic of the trio, offering wide views across the southern Cairngorms. Finally, the route turns back towards The Cairnwell, whose summit may be scarred by ski infrastructure but still delivers fine panoramas over Glenshee and beyond. This is an ideal walk for those seeking to tick off multiple Munros in a single day, or as an introduction to Munro-bagging. Despite its accessibility, the walk still feels remote at times, with sweeping Highland landscapes and the sense of achievement that comes from a triple summit day.
