About
One of the most iconic landmarks in Scotland, the Old Man of Storr is a striking pinnacle of rock that rises dramatically from the rugged landscape of the Trotternish Ridge on the Isle of Skye. Shaped by ancient landslides and towering cliffs, this otherworldly scene has made the Storr one of the most photographed places in the country.
The path begins with a steady climb from the car park, winding through regenerating woodland before opening out onto the rocky slopes of the Storr. As you approach, the jagged pinnacles come into view, with the Old Man itself standing proud against the skyline. The short, steep ascent rewards you with breathtaking views across the Sound of Raasay to the mainland, while the dramatic geology all around gives the walk an almost cinematic feel.
Though the route is relatively short, the landscape is unforgettable—alien, wild, and uniquely Skye. It’s perfect for a half-day adventure, a family walk, or a must-do stop on a tour of the island.
