About
Conic Hill is one of the most accessible and rewarding short hikes in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Starting from the charming village of Balmaha, the well-marked trail quickly climbs through native woodland before emerging onto open hillside with spectacular panoramic views.
As you ascend, the landscape opens up to reveal stunning vistas over Loch Lomond, with its scattering of islands aligned along the Highland Boundary Fault—a dramatic geological feature that marks the divide between the Lowlands and Highlands of Scotland. On a clear day, you'll enjoy sweeping views north to Ben Lomond and south toward the Central Belt.
The final stretch to the summit involves a short, steeper section, but the reward is well worth it: from the top of Conic Hill (361 m), you're treated to one of the best viewpoints in the park. It's a popular spot for photos, picnics, or just soaking in the iconic Scottish scenery.
