About
Rising steeply from the shores of Loch Earn, Ben Vorlich (985 m) is one of the most popular Munros in the southern Highlands—a proud, pyramid-shaped peak that offers a classic mountain day with superb views across Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
The walk begins at Ardvorlich House, where a good track leads through woodland and open pasture before the mountain reveals itself in full. From there, the route climbs steadily across grassy slopes and heather moorland, with Loch Earn glittering below. The path grows steeper on the upper ridge, but the reward is the airy summit, crowned with a cairn and trig point.
From the top, the panorama is magnificent: southwards over Loch Earn and the rolling Lowlands, west towards Ben Lomond, and north across a sea of Highland peaks. On clear days, you’ll even glimpse the Ben Lawers range to the north.
This is a straightforward but demanding Munro walk, perfect for those looking to step up into bigger Highland climbs without technical scrambling.
