About
Towering above the bustling town of Callander, Ben Ledi (879 m) is one of the most popular Corbetts in the Trossachs, offering a commanding position with views stretching across the Highlands and Lowlands. Its name means “Hill of God” in Gaelic, and for centuries it has been a place of folklore, midsummer rituals, and inspiration.
The ascent begins from the Ben Ledi car park, climbing steadily through forestry before breaking onto open hillside. The path follows a clear ridge, with views expanding quickly over Loch Lubnaig and the rolling hills of the Trossachs. The final approach to the summit cairn and trig point is steep but straightforward, rewarding walkers with sweeping panoramas: Ben Lomond to the west, Stùc a’ Chroin and Ben Vorlich to the north, and on a clear day, even the Firth of Forth glimmering far to the south.
For a longer day, some hikers continue along the ridge to Benvane, turning the outing into a classic high-level circuit.
