Ben A'an

Don’t be fooled by its modest height—Ben A’an (454 m) punches far above its weight when it comes to views and drama. Often called the “mountain in miniature,” this rugged, rocky peak offers one of the finest panoramic vistas in the Trossachs with a relatively short and rewarding climb. The trail starts from the Ben A’an car park, climbing steeply through forest and past babbling burns before emerging onto open hillside. The well-worn path continues upward between heather and bracken, revealing ever-expanding views as you ascend. The final approach to the summit involves a short rocky scramble, but the reward is sensational: from the summit crag, you’re treated to breathtaking views over Loch Katrine, Loch Achray, and across the rugged landscape of the Trossachs, with Ben Venue rising nearby. Ben A’an is perfect for a half-day adventure, a family outing with older kids, or a sunrise/sunset mission for photographers and romantics alike.
